rear suspension sagging on 94 4runner
Is this a common problem, and can anyone recommend a good fix? I assume the coil springs have had it.
Thanks!

I don't mind saving you some time. Yes it is. I replaced my rear springs with Performance Products progressive springs. From what I've heard and experienced they are by far the best replacement. (Performanceproducts.com) Mainly b/c they are progressive which means they get stiffer under a load and don't sag! (well unless you put about 700lbs. in the back) Anyway, they rock.

Just do a search for 'Downey Coils', PLENTY of responses will come up...probably even a thread started by me when I got my first Runner about 2 and a half years ago.
Anyway, Downey 1.5" HD coils are what you want!

Get Old Man Emu springs (OME for short) and shocks. Heck, while your at it check out a mild suspension lift from strap22.... https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...4&page=1&pp=25
Option #2 is a nice setup for both on and off road.

For reals, get the Old Man Emu coils for the back (the 901's). As you can tell, most people have an opinion about which rear coils are best...but the fact is, if they aren't saying "OME", then they're wrong Just kiddin' guys...
There's not a ton of difference between them all. OME's seem to give more lift, and the 901's seem to be the stiffest of the bunch (But far from uncomfortable). The PP springs give the least lift, I believe.
And yes, this is probably the biggest problem there is for the 2nd gens. I've never seen a stock one without it.

Diddo on the OME Springs and shocks. My 90 Runner had the butt sag as well. Here is what it looks like now with 31inch tires and OME coils and shocks and T-bars cranked up. It rides way nice!!
You will be very happy with this setup. If you don't want to crank up the T-bars after getting the rear coils then your rear will sit higher then the front.
Not a good look if you ask me.

That's why I went with the Downey 1.5's. I didn't have to crank up the front one bit.

First question to ask yourself is whether or not you want to lift your truck. if you just want to remove that sagging from the rearend, you may just want to purchase those Progressive Springs from Performance Products. theyre only about a 1in lift, which will just eliminate your sag. if youre looking for an actual bit of lift tho, i would suggest OME as well. i run them and the set up is great. i considered landcruiser coils as well, but im not sure how extreme you want to pick up your truck. i believe the LC coils are 5.5in of lift. so first decide what it is you want. if you have any further questions about the set up, feel free to shoot me a message, more than happy to help out.

Yeah, it's not much higher at all. Mine measures just over .5" taller in the rear. You don't NEED to crank your Tbars.
And the LC coils are about 3.5" of lift, I think.
Before and after:
Now, w/32's:

funny, my rig looked weird (back end higher) with the downey hds and no tbar crank so they're cranked a bit now... wish i had before/after pics (i always forget and wish i hadn't a few weeks later)

I put the Downey HD setup just like 4mydogs and it sits beautifully. I can say that while towing a 16' camper loaded w/ sh@t, the truck sagged about 1/2" and felt super stable.
IMO, both OME and Downey are good choices.
