Wow, talk about false advertising.... 4WheelParts refuses to work on any vehicle that has highly modified suspension and axles where "standard off-the-shelf" parts from major manufacturers aren't used that would be intended for aftermarket parts for that vehicle. So if you do a SAS or any major axle swap or make custom links, springs, coil-overs, etc., they won't warranty any work that they've already done on your vehicle and they won't do any more work on it. I'm not making this up. Two of my friends have gotten screwed big time by them. It's why I don't go to 4WPW anymore. It doesn't much matter to me now, since 4WPW's prices can almost always be beaten elsewhere on-line.

Yeah, probably the only 4WP "parts" on his rig are maybe his offroad lights or like me - my Lev-o-guage.

Here's a basic synopsis of my dealings with 4WP (a few years ago)

Customer, "Yeah, I Have a 1997 Toyota 4Runner - I'm looking to lift it"

4WP: "A what? - You mean a Jeep?"

Customer: "No, a 97 4Runner"

4WP: Scratching head..."Well, why would you want to lift that?"

Customer...Leaving.

They also will not install a bodylift with a suspension lift or vice versa.

You roll in with a 2" bodylift and ask for an IFS lift to be installed, you roll out with a 2" bodylift and a grand still in your pocket.

Decent Taco. Lots of lift for those tires. Too tall for me.

For as much lift as it has, it is not really flexing there.

i see lots of sas's on 96 and newer rigs using coilovers but is it possible to use coild overs on a sas on rigs 95 and below?

yeh i heard they cant sell body lift with susp lift. the computer wont allow it. so some 4wp will ring it up seperately. but i kno they dont recomment both on the same rig... although i have both! LOL

i dont like 4wp personally. the only thing i have from them is my hilift jack.

but dang.. look at the angle of his axles and his truck is still level!

4WP blows!

i went in there back before i regeared.
so i was looking to put new gears and maybe a detroit soft locker. so the guys asks me what i have, and he doesnt seem to be able to find what i have in his "catalog". so he checks underneath my truck and looks at the location of the drain plug, goes back to his book and tells me i have the 7.5" rear end. i tell him he is all wrong and that all 4runners have the 8". yet he still insists that it is a 7.5" diff because of the side of the drain plug. so in my ignorance i took his advice, had him order the gears.
when i looked on the invoice it said "toyota 7.5" IFS ring and pinion" i knew this was all wrong, so i went back in the next day, got my deposit back and have never been back since

i just cant believe they were going to put IFS gears in my REAR diff! just complete lack of knowlegde in my opinion

What are you talking about? he's just flexing it out, not getting under it and working on it. If the blocks fail, it falls back on its tires and nobody is hurt, as long as they arent standing under it, which they wouldnt be, they are just checking the suspension travel.

Someone has to operate the jack right? And someone had to stack all those blocks underneath there.

I work in a wrecking yard, so I know about the dangers of stands and working under vehicles..I do it every day. That is just an accident waiting to happen. In fact, some yards around here have been fined and one was shut down for accidents related to stands, and subsequently forklifts and working underneath them. Someone was killed recently working under stacked blocks. I understand your point about "testing flex" but it only takes a split second for that truck to fall while you're stacking blocks underneath it.

On the topic of 4wp: I have purchased my Hi-lift and Winch from them. I recieved good service, and the guys seemed to know what they're talking about involving those products. The facts remain simple though. They are a retial PARTS store, not a specialist style company. Anyone can look in a catalog and sell parts, but it takes certain people to really know their stuff. I would never go there for suspension components. I want someone who KNOWS what they are doing, not just someone who looked in a paper catalog and went by the manufacturers recomendations.
