Arb Lockers

Im currently in the process of an upgrade to 4.88s and ARB lockers. My local source is wanting $743 each front and rear for the ARBs. Is there a good source out there to get possibly a package deal? Im wanting to keep the auto locking hubs up front, will there be any adverse effects down the road if I dont convert to manual hubs? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

i dont exactly know the history on the toyota auto hubs... but if they are anything like the ford autohubs! replace them now, before it ends up costing $500 for an offroad recovery tow truck when the hubs would have worked and let you drive out of the situation (this happened to me)...

as far as the arb air lockers, price sounds about right, however what about labor and compressor?

You can leave your ADD system in without any problems. Actually the hubs aren't auto-locking, the mechanisim that disconnects the axles is located in the diff.

For a deal call Alex at Performance Off Road Center in Bogart, GA. Best prices I've found. I got my ARB's for around $600 each. I think they've gone up slightly since I got mine.

Converting to manual hubs on a 98 is an expensive proposition. You can do Steve S's method for a little less money or you can do the ORS kit for a "G".

Getting an ARB for less than 650 now is quite an accomplishment. Prices have gone way up. I got my RD90 delivered for $595.

As Bruce said, you do not have auto locking hubs.

I got mine just a few months ago, the lowest I found advertised was marlincrawler at 649, then priced matched to 4wheelparts.com, then haggled with them on the phone to accept my 10% coupon after price match, took a while and some fancy talking but the guy gave in, I paid around 580-590 each, free shipping too. Best gear deal was from Randy's, mention the "internet special".

I think ARB had a price hike on August 1st - I heard it was 4%. The good "old" price was $575.00, making a good price now of $590 to $600. Try these two locations, they always had "good" prices before:

Weivoda Auto also handles posi's and gears.

According to the supplier I use, ARB has a rule whereby all distributors need to sell the locker at their suggested price or more (to allow for shipping, taxes and such) but not less. Distributors that try to undercut the ARB suggested price risk losing their vendor contract with ARB.

$631.00, incl. shipping from PORC for my RD-90 that was just installed. Jim at Inchworm also has some great deals. Mike at Xtreme Off Road always gets great prices as well. $740.00 is right at MSRP IIRC.

I called all over and PORC beat everybody, even my local hookup for gear parts (hp60 r/p and arb)

But, whatever you do, DO NOT use any of warns hub kits on the yota stuff....

I'm a Randy's Ring and Pinion dealer, and the LOWEST I can reasonably go is $670... the AU $$$ exchange rate, and typical ARB yearly price increases are making good deals harder to come by. Retail is $745, IIRC.

So the ORS kit is a bad option in your opinion?

follow up

Thanks to all for the input, Thank you Cebby for the place to shop. Managed to get em from Performance for $629 each which saved me enough to cover the compressor. Intall is $185 for the rear and $225 for the front gotta take out diffs and deliver. Ended up still getting the Yukon 4.88s and kits through the local install shop, they were close on pricing for those. Thanks again

The 3rd gen ARB's are cheaper than the first gen. I have NO IDEA why.

Oh...
