Picking it up FRIDAY...
FINALLY...
After talking to way too many "Independent" car dealers in south florida with unintelligible accents, I finally came across a decent cruiser here in Tennessee. Originally from South FL, it came to TN about 3 years ago. It was traded in on a new Infiniti in Nashville, where I came across it on one of my uncoutable internet searches.
Specs: 2000 Land Cruiser (no locker, but has VSC), Black with Tan Leather, 62k dealer maintained (records provided) miles, yada yada yada...
We wanted a 2001/02, but just can't find any for less than $26k and decent miles anywhere around here and I'm hesitant to go into debt for something that I haven't laid my hands on in person.
It has - or should I say HAD - vinly pinstripes on it up until about an hour ago. I dropped a few bens as down payment and they're peeling the stipes and detailing it for delivery.
It's for the wife, but I'll get to sneak it out of the garage from time to time...
It will end up with the bumpers and trim painted Black along w/ some OEM 18" wheels via eBay and some Nitto Terra Grapplers or REVO's along with some matching tint on the front windows and a small subwoofer/amp. I'll probably also loose the flares if the paint isn't messed up underneath them.

sellout!
true LC's are supposed! to have solid axles...(course the same could be said about the 4runners and pickups)
Ive been on the hunt for a 97 or older (solid axle)... ive found people really like them because they hold on to them forever! as i dont find many in a 200 mile radius...
anyway congrats on the new to you truck! (on the upside it comes with the V8 right!)

the trans in the Audi's are questionable. it's a nice car, but to have ANYTHING done to it mechanically or body-wise is MAJOR BUCKS. the cruiser is just as nice, not as economical, but not as expensive either, and won't have any major issues cause it's a...
TOYOTA
besides, it's a V8 but can TOW a boat/camper/etc and will eventually be mine to "ARB" front to rear like the 4Runner is now. (now where's that muwhahahahaha smiley at...)
we also found a nice LX for a good deal... 00, 51k, and had already had the trim painted black (also means that it could have had other paint/body work as well) but it was in South FL, and was almost $4k more (+$800 to ship it SIGHT-UNSEEN) than this cruiser that is only 150 miles from us.

Good score, those are some nice rigs.
Take a close look at that IFS. It is the strongest Toyota IFS in the history of ever. No poo pooing it, especial for the wife's driver.
Take a look the TJM's up front instead. I think they are a better fit on those trucks.
The only bad thing is try to forget you can get a turbo on them. Those flat out HAUL when they are tweaked a little bit. Otherwise it is a pure luxo cruiser, tow boat for the other truck or just pimp ride.

what about a TRD SC? that's kinda the direction i was leaning to be honest.
looking forward to this afternoon. i'm leaving work in about an hour or so for the trip home, then the 2.5 hr trip over to nashville to pick it up!

luckily, val likes to ride more than she likes to drive...
today, i ordered two sets of Polk Audio 6.75" coax speakers for the 4 doors, an Alpine 55Wx4 amp to push them, a Kicker Solobaric 8" L5 (dual 2ohm VC) to go in the factory slot that currently has two little puny 4" subs, and i already have a 150W Alpine mono amp to push it. at least the cruiser will have some good tunes in a week or so...

yeah, that's a bad thing too. w/ the door open, theres maybe 1" between the top rack and the handle that sticks down on the door. i can take the handle off, but then it has maybe 2.5" at most. it's a BEAST.

The SC has been discontinued because it had poor fuel managment. The engines were bending rods/trashing pistons.
The turbo is more bucks, but it will go 100 up hill, gaining speed at 5k feet of elevation. Pretty confident the SC can't match that.
We have been trying to figure out how to get a Cummins in one because the truck is so nice it would make a bomber tow rig.
