Damn, I think the 40 guys have become over-run. I know Schaeffer has a 60 series, but I figured there'd be more people with 40's. Everybody likes a forty, right? Oh, I meant FJ 40! LOL

Thats cool, that sounds like a sweet a$# ride.
If you get a chance, post some pics. I'm also having my rear quarters replaced on my 71,so I can't even take pics.

80's are great, why can't my money supply be endless!#!##!@#!!! I'd have one of every model in my expanded garage!
Thanks, Doug

I agree completely. Its somewhat of an education process for me, as everytime I open something new, I find out I have just caused something new to be broken!
Any experience on the newer models? JSB is looking at a 93 w/ 94k on it.
Have you ever done a tub replacement instead of just that particular panel? I've been thinking about it on my 80, but am not sure if I can get the same satisfaction out of just replacing the bad panels. You know, rear quarters, rockers and cargo area, the usual spots.
thanks,
Doug

I have considered doing complete tub replacements too. The only thing that I keep going back to is that, while aluminum and fiberglass will last longer, I have typically seen that they fetch lower prices when they later sell. I am not in it to make money or anything, but if I'm going to do the work, I want it to be worth something more in the long run.
I really don't have any experience with newer models. My last three daily drivers have been 4runners (for the last 11 years) I just have the cruisers for fun and recreation. Honestly I probably spend more time working on them than driving them. It is definitely a learn as you go process!
