Just curious to see how many members also own Cruisers and what models.
I have a 71 and 80 FJ40

Hey, if LX 450 counts as FZJ80 then I own one too. Anyway, this LX 450 is a cousin of the Cruiser. It does count as a Cruiser right?

Damn, I think the 40 guys have become over-run. I know Schaeffer has a 60 series, but I figured there'd be more people with 40's. Everybody likes a forty, right? :drink: Oh, I meant FJ 40! LOL

I am new to the sight but own a 1976 FJ40 , Built stroker Chev 383, 4 speed trans, 4 wheel disc brakes , full cage ,on board air , winch , Shackle reversal, warn 3 inch lift , dual fuel tanks, right now going thru the body and replacing all the rusted pannels and rear tub new , then new paint , a new soft top , and hope to be done with it by winter

If you get a chance, post some pics. I'm also having my rear quarters replaced on my 71,so I can't even take pics.

I kinda think of it as I own a truck too. :)
My dd and main wheeler is a 95 FZJ-80 with the usual goodies
My long term project is a 74 FJ-40. V-8 and coil sprung.

Good to know, O.U. (old ugly) comes home in about a week or so, I'll post pics too. If you guys can, please post some pics. i'm about ready to paint it and am trying to decide which direction to go. I'm thinking white right now!

80's are great, why can't my money supply be endless!#!##!@#!!! I'd have one of every model in my expanded garage!

Yea, I do my own work on the cruisers. I am a hands on person and would rather do things myself than have anyone else touch them.:welder: It is a great hobby!

I agree completely. Its somewhat of an education process for me, as everytime I open something new, I find out I have just caused something new to be broken! :laugh:

Any experience on the newer models? JSB is looking at a 93 w/ 94k on it.

Have you ever done a tub replacement instead of just that particular panel? I've been thinking about it on my 80, but am not sure if I can get the same satisfaction out of just replacing the bad panels. You know, rear quarters, rockers and cargo area, the usual spots.

I have considered doing complete tub replacements too. The only thing that I keep going back to is that, while aluminum and fiberglass will last longer, I have typically seen that they fetch lower prices when they later sell. I am not in it to make money or anything, but if I'm going to do the work, I want it to be worth something more in the long run.

I really don't have any experience with newer models. My last three daily drivers have been 4runners (for the last 11 years) I just have the cruisers for fun and recreation. Honestly I probably spend more time working on them than driving them. It is definitely a learn as you go process!

71 40 -- ongoing process -- need to take care of frame rust,(body in good shape), soa with rancho 44044 to fit 40's, custom cage linked to frame, sliders, radiatior hoop, and both bumpers (yea basically an exo-cage), rhino whole cruiser (inside & out), hopfully SM420.
yea its alot, so i probally need to :pat: myself back to reality:D
