Angry Yota 7.5 diff broken???:help:

HELP HELP
I have a clicking sound coming from my differential on the drivers side. The inner joint is not turning in sync. The front was like i had a "phantom locker" and would not turn left. When I lifted the 4Runner the axle would turn with alot of resistance......I have a 97 Runner with newfeild axles in the front. Is this a commen diff problem? I have replaced my drive axles 5 times this year and never had this problem with any CV joints

I put the front end on jack stands, put the transfer case in nuetral and spun the wheels. The drivers side wheel will turn half a turn freely, it hits something in the diff and then the drive shaft will begin turn. The passenger side spins with no resistance. Is it bad gears????:pat:

Check your fluid and see if there are chunks of steel in there. It could still be your CVs though. If one of your CVs isn't turning right then it'll make your drive shaft turn too.

It is not the CV or metal in the fluid. When I shift into 4 hi from 2 high it pulls to the left

On my last trip I heard a noise comming from a left side diff, at first I thought is was cv axle, so I put new one in but sound was still there. After I got home I drained front diff and there was so much metal chanks so i new that gears shereaded. I desided to regear to 4:88 and while everything apart I got ARB (front/rear). Hopfully your problem is somthing else and not sreaded gears.

That helps alot Bratik, I have not drained the pumpkin but only checked the level. I took it to my friends garage where he put it on a rack and we came to the conclusion that the spider gears are shot. He told me to remove the diff and he will instal a new gears and a true Trac Traclock (limited slip). Do you like the 4.88s, what size tires are you running?
