I think I got lucky because he was stopping for a yellow light (or an aluminum can).

Then i was turning right anyway.

Ahh,this thread is revived a 3rd time.
Yes,3rd gens are pretty slow but are a little quicker when SC'd. I ran my Runner up at the strip outside of Denver (5800ft asl) and it ran a 19 flat @73mph (heavy Nittos aren't helping) but a few years ago I did see a '01 Tacoma with an SC run a high 16.
There also was a guy there with a new Tacoma X-Runner 6 speed and he was running 15.8s which was right on par with my Eclipse GSX when it was stock.

Well GM STILL has the field beat with fast SUV's with the TrailBlazer SS
That LS2 develops 400hp/400tq!!! On an SUV that weighs the same as a conventional 3rd gen! Whats more is that LS2 will support the same mods the LS1 will with the same level of reliability. So 125hp dry shot anyone? 150 wet shot?
Just think of how 550hp would feel like?

The Porsche Cayenne turbo makes 450hp/460 tourque and the turbo S makes 520hp/530 torque and both have true 4wd capablilties and a ground clearance (adjustable) up to almost 11" and can tow 7000lbs which I don't even think the Jeep SRT8 can do.
The turbo S runs into the high 12s in the 1/4 and has a top speed of just under 170mph. Early tests of the Trailblazer SS have it running high 13s which is still slower than the Jeep SRT8.
Yes,being the quickest does come at a price but Porsche does hold the title of quickest SUV at the moment.
FYI the Trailblazer weighs 500lbs more than 3rd gen and the Porsche add 200 more pounds on top of the SS.

The 4Runner is somewhat quick when compared to a newer LandCruiser... I know because I always say that my 4Runner feels like a sports car compared to my 2004 LandCruiser.

Man I am depressed now, not because of my 3.Slow (I never bought it for speed) but because I thought I had a pretty fast car. Turned pretty consistant times @ 11.8 in the Quarter with my "slightly" modded daily driver 70 Chevelle LS6. But now I read "lower than 11 in the .25 is considered fast" bummer. The only thing making me keep it now is it's at least as fast as a Porche. Hmm maybe it's time for 3.0 to 454 swap, the biggest problem would be how many wheel spacers would I need to clear the headers .

1/4 mile times for my '00 S/C 3.4 Runner before any mods - 17.0 flat at 85 mph. With fuel mods, plugs, thermostat, injectors, fuel management, ISR, modified airbox - 15.4 at 93 mph.

most likly he was messing with you i used to do it all the time in my f 150 at a light i would pull up and see some yahoo who looked like the type who would race .
so i would lock up the brakes rev up so the whole truck would move the light would change green the guy would peel out and i would pull out at a normal speed get the guy at the next light give him the fish hook with my finger in my mouth.
and then have a good laugh at his expence and be on my way knowing i got him.

I read a little whiel back that their was a private owner than pushed a Turbo S (the 520hp version) over 600hp with just a $50 boost controller and no temporary nitrous power required.
The same guy also ran in the 11s at the strip and the Trailblazer can't fallow it off the pavement.
Still,it's crazy the money you'd have to spend to attain the ponies in the Porsche and for the Money I could drive a new Z06 Vette and turn my 4Runner into an awesome trail rig and still have money left over.

indeed! Right now Ill be happy with my 3.slow if it can get into the low 17s on the track. (post top end rebuild done and after I take the 600lb sound system out...lol) Actually Ill be happy as hell when its actually running period! lol
There are a few porche Cayenne Turbos bouncing around here, maybe even an S type, but here it seems the old farts driving them will never race. Not me but rather my buddy's 500hp LS1 trans am, he is why I love the LS1,2,6, and 7 hehehehe
