This reduction in stored energy would account for a little less than 1mpg drop if your mileage was originally 20mpg. Paired with the colder temps, you get a 1-2 mpg drop during the winter time in colder areas.
yeah yeah............ jk thats very interesting..

I get about the same....I really wonder what is wrong. I just put a new fuel-filter in....thought that would magically help....but yeah i'm getting terrible mileage....maybe an O2 sensor slowly going bad.......?

Unless you have as many miles as I have(just over 420,000km), then putting in a new fuel filter is kind of excessive. It only needs to be done if you are having problems with getting fuel to the injectors.

I put one in around 380,000km and it helped a TINY bit. Maybe a .05mpg difference.

What size tank does your 4runner have? Just trying to compare with mine.

The snow is on its way with freezing temps. in my area. I'll have to pay attention to milage this winter. The main factors for me are:

more weight from ice/snow buildup
more weight from sandbags in box for traction
longer idle times(to warm it up)

as for gas I have no idea, but I'm assuming the 3.0 loses a bit of efficiency(or lack thereof) from freezing weather. The main thing I hate, is the salt is already on the roads!
