TransMission shifting
Hey everyone,
I have a 03 DB-cab, 4x4 with a 3.4 and auto trans. My problem is the initial drive of the day or after the truck sits for several hrs. My truck will not shift into 2nd until it seems like its warm. I asked two dealers about this problem and they both said trans will not shift until fluid reaches a certain temp. Is this true. After it finally shifts, its fine the rest of the time. No slippage nothing. But i have tried to push it a little to get it to shift and run rpms up to about 3 on the initial drive, but i hate to push a cold motor. It use to really be bad in the winters, but now that summer is upon us, its acting the same way in the warmer months. Any help or ideas would be greatly appriciated and thank you.

Without actually hearing or seeing how or when yours is shifting, I will say that delayed shifting is normal until the engine is warm. Whether yours is shifting normal is hard to say over the internet.
If you really feel that it is waiting too long to shift when cold, leave it at the dealer overnight so that they can drive it 1st thing in the morning when it is coldest.
