These are used for doing odd engine swaps that are evidently popular enough for them to produce them. Anyway, they will make bell housing if they do not already offer them. A "W" series tranny could always be dropped into the new Runner if someone wanted it bad enough.

Just some food for thought. Most people are probably waiting for warrenties to run out before getting too heavily involved in their new Runners.
the only problem there is that toyota now only machines engine cranks for a pilot bearing if that specific engine is going to have a manual tranny behind it...and as we all know the v8s and 4.0 are all automatics. there's some hope for the 4.0 though as it's going to be available with a manual in the tacoma(thank god!) but probably no luck with the v8

Waiting for the 05 Runners to come out as they could have those white faced gauges. So bought a 03 Pathy(hers)it's nice, small compared to the new Runners. We took them both offroad and their both good but the Toyota's has my vote. Nissan won because here in Canada Toyota has set pricing so it's going to have to wait for next year and just maybe with my e-ails that I have sent to Toyota, got through to the right people and we will have white faced gauges.

I've seen a "UZ" series engine dropped in a Supra with a "W" series tranny behind it in a magazine. I know that the company that I was talking about does make a "UZ" engine to "W" tranny bell housing, so it has to be possible.

Now again, I haven't looked into anything on the new Runners.....I'm not sure what V8 they are running, but I'd think with the Taco running that engine with a manual or not it's possible.

I always tell people that have ased me questions on the Celica board that I also visit. Just about anything is possible with the right "know-how" or enough money.

i currently own a 88 pathfinder and i'm very pleased with it. it has a 3" lift and 31" mud tires. it came from the factory with a rear LSD and 4.63 gears. the thing goes like a tank offroad. however the aftermarket for nissans isn't even close to toyotas. i 'm in the market for a toyota pickup to haul my dirtbike around. my father owns a toyota pickup and it seems to be good quailty.

I have had my hardbody since it was new and it has never given me any trouble, a/c is still cold and I have never had to recharge it. The only thing that is bad on it was the paint job, a common problem with late 80's early 90's nissans as I understand.

My wife had an 87 Pathfinder SE v-6 before we got the 94 4-Runner I drive now. It was similar in quaility to my Runner although I like the Toyota better. The 3rd gen Runners are quite a bit better than the Exterra's though. My wife's 99 was sitting next to her sister's 00 Exterra and I was transfering some packages. When I was done I closed the hatch on my wife's Runner, then closed the hatch on her sister's Exterra. I almost broke the glass of the Exterra because I closed it with the same force as the Runner. The rear hatch is very cheap/light along with the rest of the Exterra.

Look at an old land cruiser. It makes the new toyotas look like tinker toys.I can say that I have owned 13 all togeather. This 2002 tacoma double cab is about the cheapest of the whole bunch. If you are old enough to have owned one that was made in japan when it was new. There aint no camparison. You drive it off the lot and never go back for repairs. What the hell happen.

most americans don't want durable cars, because the big 3 has them sold on the idea that they should be buying new all the time. so basically companies are making disposable cars this day in age, or so it seems

All the Nissan trucks are made in Tennesse now. I think alot of Toyota's are made in Indiana there's a big plant before you are leave the state and enter Kentucky.
I do think some of the quailty has gone down hill on the both of them.

This would be a nice nissan to have

It's 1969 Nissan L60 Patrol basically almost the same specs as a FJ40 landcruiser. They have become quite rare since they stopped importing them in the 70's.

Here's a 64 L60 Nissan Patrol

I will only buy the ones made in Japan. It makes a difference. My 350Z and my 04 Toyota 4runner were both made in Japan. They take more pride in their work and you can tell.
