I've thought about that, but getting a flight at this time will probably cost a lot more than trailering it home. What if I spend double the money and throw it on a full trailer? I would still have to hide what I'm towing on it though.

You should always tow any vehicle w/a heavier vehicle. For example in the military, if your 2 1/2 ton breaks down you tow it with a 5 ton, tow the 5 ton w/ a 10 ton and so on. Why not rent a 3/4 ton or one ton truck? I know your trying to save money, but whats the going price on a human life if that thing gets away from your????

I can't because I'm picking up the other 4runner up there and driving it home too. That's not really an option, but I figure the 4runner is heavier than a '85 pickup, right? Probably just not much heavier.

Well, I secured the full drive-on trailer from Uhaul today, so I can pull the truck up on it completely. The trailer has brakes, so it should go pretty smoothly. $305 to make it happen isn't too bad, I guess.

Your 4Runner does not have enough ass or power to tow that trailer let alone that trailer and another truck on it.
Just wait till you finally get it upto highway speed and then need to hit the brakes and find yourself suddenly facing the other way and now that trailer is towing you down the road.
Son, I do wish you all the luck in the world on this adventure of yours.

I can't remember where you said you where going with this rig. If you are going to be passing through the DC area let me know when and I will try to meet up with you.
I just have to see your poor little 4Runner towing all this weight.

chris,
what are the specs on the truck? is it standard cab with no options? what engine. etc.? i want to try and figure out the weight of the truck.
what is the weight of the trailer? (one of the points of a dolly was to save weight)
i would like to compare what you are towing to the weight of my ski boat. thanks
