A friend of mine wants his 1999 4-cylinder Tacoma 4x4 to have a larger carrying capacity and is planning on changing the leaf springs. Problem is, he has the TRD package and the springs look upside down from my 2004 D-cab.

The springs make an upside down U. Anybody know if the swap to more conventional springs is possible and whether the TRD package has different mounting points, etc.?

Help me out if you can

I don't know what the TRD set-up looks like, pics would help. It sounds like it has the nuts to the u-bolts on top. I don't think that would make a difference in changing the spring pack. He may need longer u-bolts either way. Another option would be to find some air shocks to help out the rear when loaded down. I found some to fit my pickup and I love the adjustablity for different loads.
