Accelerator cable is binding? You have 300k+ miles on the truck?I have never hear of one going bad, unless huge amount of miles...It pretty straight forward, disconnect and run it through the fire wall, you might have to use some "mechanics wire" or a coat hanger to get it started through the firewall boot....
If you are having a problem where you try to give it gas and the pedal is hard to push ....then releases and now you are 1/2 throttle...The problem is not the cable...you need a good throttle body cleaning(butterfly)..And if you are getting a sticky throttle, you might as well pull the throttle body, clean it and remove and clean your IAC(need to get new O-ring)...
But hey,I guess anything is possible.....

Exactly what 97ltd4x4 said. I would suggest taping the crap out of the new one with electrical tape to the old one and feeding it through the firewall. It's really a piece of cake. I would most definitely do a TB cleaning. Just spray brake clean and get an old toothbrush and clean the TB blades of all the gunk and buildup.
