removing top on 1st gen...
just bought a 86 4runner 2 days ago...interior is COMPLETLY striped and am going to hurculine it tommarow.....AIR TOOLS ROCK! anyways how in the workd do i remove the top...its removeable i just dont know how to do it....anyone know

take off the interior trim where the top meets the body there will be a bunch of bolts holding it to the body, remove all of the bolts, disconnect the rear wiper wiring and lift it off, i would recommend to have a friend help, the tops are awkward and somewhat heavy

I'd suggest rolling it or using a paint brush cause spraying on that junk sucks and doesn't work well, at least not on bumpers.
Lower back window. Remove rear body garnishes inside in the back, 5-6 screws/bolts. Then remove A-N bolts starting at the driver's rear for the sequence. Bolt B is the one that keeps power from moving your window up again.
Disconnect the connector and washer hose on driver's side of the rear body.
Take off top.
Repeat in reverse order to put it back on and it is HEAVY!

thanks guys that was fast..now i just need to buy the sas kit...anyone know if marlin ever has sales? hopefully by the end of the month this thinhsg willl be SASed ....this feels weird ussually i wait a few months till modding but since i have a tacoma also and this is just a trail rig it feels cool to just dig in!!!
