Removing 1992 sr5 sticker (striping) on the both sides

I have a 92 4runner sr5. It is dark green and has the factory stripes that runs along the side from front to back on both sides of the truck. I have one question about the stickers. On my passenger's front door the sticker is messed up (incomplete) but the rest and the other side is fine. It makes it look like I have a dent in the door but it does not. It just enchances the curve of the door that runs to the front of the fender. Do you guts think I should removel all the stripes or try to get the original sticker for that door to retain the factory look?

If I decide to remove the stripes what is the safest way of doing it? Is there a chemical that removes the stripes safely w/o damaging the original paint?

If I decide to get the replacement stick for that door, what place do you guys recommend that I should get it from? Do they still have this in stock somewhere?

Thank you

Jayster

I used a heat gun and adhesive remover on an old car, it was a lot of work and you have to be careful.

The biggest problem with taking it off is the paint underneath may be darker, since the rest of your paint has most likely faded a fair bit over time. Depending on the width of the stripe, it may or may not be a problem.

I used to have a 92 Toyota 4x4 Pu and the way I got the stripes off was purely accidental. I had been out on the trail and when i got back into town I went to one of those pay spray places with the pressure hose. Well needless to say the pressure hose shot half of the sticker off of one side, so after that happened I ended up doin the whole truck. The paint will definetley be a different color underneath as it hasn't been exposed to the elements. What I ended up doing was taking mine to a detailing shop and let them wash and wax the whole thing and it shined it up nice where you couldn't tell the paint was a different color. However it might be different with a green truck, mine was white and a lot more forgiving.

Remove 'em. Mine has been sans stripes for a good 5 years now. Looks much better IMO. The stripes make it look dated. Classic case of less is more.

How many factory applied big graphics like that do you see on newer vehicles these days? Not many...
