On mine, the big spring inside the hub (#8 in Adam's pic) is a little corroded. I managed to strip most of the corrosion, but the spring isn't a consistent thickness where the corrosion was (it is thinner there, metal eaten away by ?). There is no fear of it breaking cause it isn't THAT bad, but should I replace these? It still has sufficient power to push the innards like it should since it was working before I tore into it.

It had no effect on the operation of the hub. You'll be fine with the original.
