what radiator bands do you recommend for replacing my 2000 4runner?

i am looking for excellent quality that's close to OEM.

also, dose anyone know of the OEM brand that sells under a different name?

Harrison, owned by Delphi, and Denso are OE manufacturers for Toyota 3rd gen 4runners.

Koyo and Performance Radiator are excellent aftermarket radiator brands that build OE radiators for Honda, Nissan, and other Japanese car companies.

We tested all of the radiator brands, including aftermarket and OE and in a pressure test the Koyo was the strongest.

I would try to stay away from Proliance and CSF, they tend to be built poorly. Although the proliance usually are either bad or good, meaning they fail immediately or they will be fine.

All I know is mine is the one from advanced with the lifetime warranty....

thats what happens when you bust one on the trail and need one to drive home.

I just replaced my oem radiator with a CSF one $150. The build is not as good as the oem one.The radiator comes with tinner nuts for the fan shroud instead of the nuts being welded on.
However I did noticed a 10 to 15 degree drop in temps measured with my OBD2 scanner.

I wifes toyota tacoma has a harrison radiator (wish i can find a harrison radiator online). when its time to replace my 4runner, i will stick with a koyo radiator. Jason

My 2 cents. I would NOT order a radiator online. Here is the reason. I had to replace a radiator in my Integra many years ago. I believe I got the replacement from radiatorbarn.com. It was $90 shipped. Lifetime warranty. Great, I thought. I got the radiator and immediately saw that it was leaking from the top. So I called up the place and they said that I had to pay to have it shipped, and also pay for the return shipping, AND pay for another radiator, which they will credit back once my old one is returned and found faulty. Total expense would be $220, then minus $90 if I get a credit. PLUS a downtime of at least a week. BS.

Go to a local shop, like NAPA, Autozone, etc. At least if you get a bunk radiator, you won't be out shipping charges nor the downtime.

Just a thought.

Take the radiator you got to a local shop and have it fixed if possible. I had one from an 87 repaired/flushed and it works and looks brand new... $50.

Wow, that's bad. I bought 4 radiators over the years from radiator.com and had very different service from them. On the ones I've sent back they paid all shipping and I was out nothing but my labor once they recieved the old one back and they credited my card.

Yeah, don't ever deal with radiatorbarn.com, if they're still even in business. Sounds like radiator.com has better services. However, you're still looking at a downtime for your rig regardless. If it's your trail rig, doesn't matter much, but if it's your DD, local is better since you can get running that same day.

The radiators in 3rd gen 4Runners and Tacomas are plastic aluminum, they are not worth trying to fix. The seal between the tank and core has a design lifespan of 80,000 min miles. Most people get much more but its not worth fixing.
