naw just kidding. I am keeping my running boards on until I tear them off while rootin
then I will shell out some coin for sliders or make my own
we don't have too many rocks out here on the east coast, mainly sand and mud

Check out these ARB 4th gen. sliders. I haven't seen anyone apply this technique on 3rd gen sliders. I could be wrong.

i think that would be a good way to go, just weld some tabs on the inside of the slider openings and bolt in some sheet metal.

Depending on what kind of running boards you have , mine were painted to match and sold on ebay for $250, certainly would offset the cost of sliders.

I was gonna tell to get a set of sliders mount them then weld on some dimond plate over the top side and then some antislip paper like on skateboards then you get the best of both worlds protection from rocks , door dings , flying mud and street grime plus a very sturdy steep for loading and unloading people . Just did my friends jeep that way couple weeks ago and his wife and kids love it. my.02s spent it wisely ;}
