Easy and quick mod - finished in 15 min.
I've had a few people give me good comments on it - I even got a thumbs up at a red light from a guy using the crosswalk.
Then again, San Diego IS a military town...

Great mod! This may seem like a dumb question, but are you keeping it there when parked? I'm only asking because (a) I'd hate to see it get dirty from the bed, and it shouldn't touch the ground (truck bed), and (b) I'd hate to see it get stolen.
Hope that doesn't sound too anal!

This is kind of a work in progress and I haven't worked out all the kinks yet. For the moment the flag stays in (foam padding and a few obstructions in the PVC piping make it real hard to pull out without damaging anything).
I've noticed that in the last 250 miles I've had it on there's already some fraying at the upper corner of the flag. I'm guessing that may just be because its a nylon print and not an authentic stitched version.
Anyhow, I'm sure I'll have all the details worked out within the week.
Theft isn't really going to be a problem. San Diego is a military town and for the most part there's a healthy respect for our banner... unlike other parts of our country where they're burning them
pfdaxe: I like your sticker - way cool and very respectful.

Back when we were newly feeling the sting of 9-11 and flags were really hard to come by, some guy in Coronado (San Diego) displayed a family heirloom flag that was HUGE - 10ft by something or another...
STOLEN!

yeah, on a neary by road after 9/11 there was this huge flag on the side of the road, the one day i noticed it was gone and the stick it was on was splintered. i don't know who the hell would do that.
but right on with the flag. i've gone mine too..tho it's a cling on one, on the back window.

You'd be surprised. I always her about people stealing flags (and flowers) from graves during Memorial Day.
Outrageous.
