A new 4runner in the family

My wife and I bought a 2000 4runner this morning! Solid black (no chrome) SR5 with the sport option, leather, sunroof, etc. 47,000 one owner miles. We are so happy to find it. Having had many Toyota trucks I'm really beginning to see what all of the 4runner hype is really about. It will be my wifes daily driver (how did that happen?) but I will inherit her former daily driver, the 97 Tacoma we bought new. It's an extended cab 4x4 with 54,000 miles....let the mods begin! I guess I'll sell the 93 now although I hate to. If I could I'd keep them all even the 93 with the 3.0, but with the Mustang in the garage and 3 Toys lined up in the driveway we're running out of room!

Congratulations, now where are the pics? Does it have the rear locker?

93toy,

welcome and congrats on the purchase.

theres one thing you want to check out immediately: TSB EL010. Search EL010 and read up. Basically, its a fix to the gas gauge which does not work well for 99 and some 00s. Depends on VIN.

Or just go back to your dealer or call the Toyota Customer service folks and ask if the repair had been done.

If you bought it from the dealer really recently and its messed up, go back and demand that it be fixed by them asap, regardless of warranty.

Q

Welcome and Congrats to your new vehicle. Do you have a rear diff lock? If you do, good for you!

No, unfortunately it does not have the rear locker. When we found the Runner it was the first thing I looked for, but I guess that would have been getting too lucky. Thanks for the info on the TSB Bob, I wasn't aware of that. I'll have to dig a little and see if that has been corrected or not. I doubt it's been fixed yet though, I spoke to the original owner a few days ago and he said the only work he had ever had done on it (outside of routine maintenance) was to fix the parking brake because it kept sticking. But I'll be sure to check into it. I hope to get pictures up soon.
