no worries

I ran an entire tank through with the thing broken, and averaged 18.5. I'll check to see what I get with it fixed now.

It was the OEM fan clutch also.

Every 3.4L V6 (5VZ-FE) engine I have ever listened to has always had the fan spinning when it first starts up (roaring). Mine does it. But after a little bit, it turns off but the fan is still spinning only not at the same speed. I figured that when it turns on when you first start up it is normal. If the temp outside is about 50-60 mine rarely turns on unless I am going really slow or up a canyon. If the temp outside is closer to 80-100 then mine is at least at half speed all the time. I can hear the difference between off, half on, and full on just like an electric fan on pretty much any car.

My wife asked me "when do I pull out of the garage after starting the truck".

I said, when you hear the fan turn off. That is about 45-60 seconds depending on the temp outside.
