Might have to sell my '03
I've had my '03 V8 4wd 4Runner Ltd since April...but I'm going through a career transition at the moment. I've since quit my FT job (now working PT) and I'm thinking about going back to school for a master's or a second degree...btw, I'm a Registered Nurse with a BSN.
Anways...if I were to sell my baby (she just hit 5,000 miles today), how much do you guys think would be a fair private party price. How about as a trade-in? I've looked at Edmunds, KBB, etc, but I want to get your guys opinions....

You should be able to sell that for atleast the price of a NEW SR5!
I know that I would have bought your rig, if you were around, when I had to settle for a SR5!

Nurses are in serious demand in the states so you shouldn't have any trouble getting the job you want especially if you are willing to relocate (they often give you a decent signing bonus too!)

I just sold my '03 Titanium Limited V-8 with 5K miles that was loaded with everything but Navi for $37K. I got lucky, it sold in two days. Black will be harder to sell. Be sure it's spotless in and out when you demo it. Good luck!

Very true....
The nurse shortage is only going to worsen as more baby boomers retire. But there's also a shortage because...many, if not most, nurse deal with so much ˟˟˟˟˟ (literally and figuratively
-and I wasn't getting paid nearly enough for what my tasks and responsibilities entailed. It ended up wearing me out physically and mentally. Even though there a positions available everywhere, I don't want to jump into the same environment I just left.

Just the cheapest three line classified in our statewide newspaper. If that didn't work, I was going with eBay Motors. If no action there, my last resort would've been to sell it back to the dealer who was short of inventory then.

Travis, I picked up one of these. I changed the tires to Bridgestone Potenza RE-950's in +1 size and discovered that it actually handles pretty well if you keep speed up on corner entry. The first tank gave 48 mpg even with the draggy tires, low ambients of ~40F (low temps hurt hybrid economy), and hilly terrain. I got the high-speed Salsa Red Pearl color. 
I'm thinking of getting one of those "Danger, High Voltage" stickers for it.
This will be what I call a "home run" car (10%+ net more than paid) when I sell next Spring.

48 MPG, I wish I could get half that much in either of my cars!!
are you going to put that by the Type R sticker??

I have loads of medical people in my family so I've heard the issues you've mentioned more thean a few times. If retraining is on the horizon, will it be back to the medical field for you?

I'm not exactly out of the profession at the moment...i'm working at an urgent care center...it's nothing compared to my specialization in intensive care/critical care. actually, i would really like to get a job in pharmaceutical sales, research, or as a clinical consultant.

Lots of career options once you've attain that kind of nursing experience. My cousin graduated a few years ago from Wake Forest as a Nursing Anesthetist. Her starting salary the first year on the job was 100k in North Carolina. I can only imagine what it will be 10 years in,or if she were to move to the northeast. What ever you decide, you have several options because of your critical care experience, just a matter of picking the one that fits your life style best. Nursing jobs are plentiful depending on where you live . I have a buddy who is a traveling nurse, she makes 110k because she works with an agency. I'm sure you know your value better then anyone else. I thought it might be encouraging to throw this info out there.
