Question K&N Performance Kit and throttle body spacer

Hello folks, I have a 1996 4Runner 3.4L V6 with a K&N Performance Kit. Has anyone installed a throttle body spacer in conjunction with a K&N Performance Kit? Looking through the current Performance Products catalog, there are two available, Helix Power Tower and Poweraid throttle body spacers. There is verbiage that the Helix Power Tower is not intended for use with a K&N Performance Kit. I called the Poweraid folks, (website: http://www.airaid.com/) and asked whether the same applied and the fellow from Airaid stated that just as long as there is space, 3/4" to 1", to install the Poweraid throttle body spacer it should work and that they both should complement each other and improve low to mid end performance...

Has anyone tried the K&N Peformance kit with throttle body combination? If so, please state your findings, good or bad...

Thanks in advance,
- Rob

I have not used that particular combination. But I know that adding that spacer on the intake will give you more torque. It allows for a bigger gulp of air to go into the cylinders.
As long as it fits together well with no air leaks, I don't see how they would not work together.
The K&N is more of an intake mod (if it the system I am thinking of) to the manifold, and the spacer is a direct manifold mod.
give it a whirl, let us all know what you think after your done.

and several dyno runs before and after. I'm hoping you see a gain, but am expecting a slight loss or no change. The FIPK by itself has been proven to harm overall output of the 3.4L engine. Perhaps adding the throttle body spacer will change that...who knows?

I've been running the K&N FIPK & Helix TB spacer combo on my 2000 SR5 for over two years now. After I had ordered it from PP they called me and said that they weren't supposed to be used together. I asked why and they said that it wouldn't fit. I told them that it would because it was on my truck. I haven't had any problems with it. If the spacer did anything it may have moved the K&N filter a hair bit closer to the intake hole in the fender. I don't see how that could be a bad thing. Everything lines up and works fine. I don't know if one is better than the other because I installed them at the same time. The spacer just makes some whistling noises under certain throttle applications. I've been pleased with them so far. Since I knew there was no way I was going to be able to afford a SC and all the goodies that it requires(college student w/ college student budget) I just opted for these engine mods. I can take some pics if you want to see them, just let me know.
