Sounds like an awful lot of cranking of the t-bars to gain the 3.5-4" required.

if you have 14" rims you cant have a 31..... the biggest size 14" rim in metric is a 225/70/14 ... they also have heavier duty truck tires, but i have only seen those in a 25..... you will probab want to get differnt rims... the rims i have on my truck are from a ford explorer

also you arent going to be able to crank the tbars 3-4" you may get 2-3" tops but then its going to stress stuff out... i broke the anchor arms on my truck due to too much tbar crank... then i replaced them with a stock but later version harvested from an 89 pu

3.5-4" required? Why is it required? $50 (add-a-leaf) and a new set of tires sounds great on the pocketbook. Save up for a 4x4...

No matter which way you go you are going to spend $$. best thing to do is be patient, get a plan of what you want to do and save up to get those things one by one check around and see if you can find deals on used lifts or just save up more $$. Nickel and diming it may be cause for more of a headache. Either way you go you will spend lots of money to have something your proud of

I've already put way to much time and money into it now, so theres no chance of selling it. Plus I'd never get what it's worth.

Maybe I'll buy a beat-up old 4x4 to bash around with someday. But it'd still be nice to lift my truck and slap on some bigger tires. Maybe a brush gaurd even. Just to give it a larger appearence and some off road ability.

Take it from me.....
The best mod you can do to a 2wd rig is add a rear locker. However, after I did that, it just made me want a 4x4 even more. You start to learn your limits with a locker and, honestly, there ain't much more you can do to a 2wd truck after that.
I was looking into getting a fabtech 3.5" inch lift for x-mas this year but decided against it....I've pretty much realized that no matter how much money I dump into my 2wd, it's never going to be as capable as I want it to be.
So I'm planning on selling it soon to pay off the loan and then look for a 4x4 Taco. Of course, Yotatech is to blame for this new obsession/goal of mine
Anyway, if you just want the look and MILD off-roading capability, then by all means mod away. Otherwise, save yourself the inevitable future frustration and look into selling it and getting a 4wd rig or leaving it the way it is and buy a seperate rig to wheel.
That's my .02, don't spend it all in one place

I say keep your 2wd as a daily driver, it looks like it's in cherry condition. Desert pinstriping will not add to its looks. Get yourself an old Toy 4wd pickup and have at it. Start mild and go wild if you want.

If you did wheel the 2wd (as I did my '93), you'll always want more clearance, traction and lower gears. And of the three, I always wanted lower gears the most.
