Intake question

I'm doing some rearranging in the engine compartment of a 22RE. The battery is gone from it's normal place on the passenger side just behind the headlight. I was thinking I would move the airbox/filter/airflow sensor to where the battery was. Does anyone know if it will screw up the computer by shortening the airtube between the airbox and the throttle body? Normally it is about a 2+' tube running across the top of the radiator. In the new spot it would only be about 6". Is this going to screw up the sensor readings in some way I can't see? I would think it is still the same amount of air entering the engine, just a shorter path to get there. Anybody see a problem that I'm missing?

sounds like a great idea to me, especially if you mod the air box to give more flow, or do a cold air intake mod.

Thanks guys. That's what I thought. If this turns out it will be a combination high flow air filter and mini hood scoop/snorkel that will be very cheap. I'll take pics if it works.
