I FINALLY made the switch.... I can HIGHLY Recommend it also.

I have had problems with my brakes for about the last 4 months. I have 147k on my 98 4Runner and had the brakes done at my local shop. (I was to lazy to do it myself)
Ever since that day my brakes have SUCKED. The shop bled the brakes with the car in the air, (cutting off the valve). So when I went home the first stop light I came to the pedal went all the way to the floor.
Got that fixed
Then my rear brakes were not adjusted right so I took it back in and had them go over it again... Still had problems with rear chatter and they tried to sell me on front rotors for $250..

So I started searching this board for anything about brakes, and I noticed the Brembo, Performance Friction 96 Land Cruiser combo.
I went down to Autozone and got the pads, also checked on the price for their rotors. $56.95 each + tax
I then went on the computer and checked Taylor Automotives' website and found Brembo rotors for $58.95 each not tax and free shipping.
HMMMMM...... which would you choose?

Now I have this combo installed and WOW what a difference. I would recommend this to anyone having the brake issues.

Thanks for all your posts and opinions.

I do have more pics but it is difficult to upload. (probably user error...)

98 4X4 SR5 Desert Dune
Donahoe front coilovers
Performance Products rear springs
Bilstein Rears
275/70/16 Bridgestone Revos
TRD Wheels
TRD Air Filter
Tranny Cooler
Piaa's
Chrome Rocker Panels
Some other bits.....
147K and still going strong, only replaced the water pump and now the brakes.

Wanted a S/C but not with $2.00 fuel and all the mod that go with it, but might add a rear locker.

I have been looking at getting a 4th gen V6 4X4, especially after seeing some of the members rides on here.
But it is hard to give up my "No Payment".......But an extra 55hp would be nice
Thanks

Hey Marty,
Thanks,
I got them at a local auto accessories shop called Flips Performance, I used to see them in catalogs but at the time couldn't find them, so I just went in to Flips and they were able to order them.

If I get a 4th gen I will probably be looking for them again.

Hope that helps
Rob

Here you go,

Flips Performance Concepts (818) 786-8666

They are called Chrome Rocker panels, and mine are 4 1/4 inches wide. I am not sure if they still can get them, I got these several years ago.

Hope this helps

Second that!

Rob,
I have the same set up. Even the IS wheels. But I do have to say, I did just the front PF pads and they seemed to be too much for the stock rotors and I warped them. The pads were under warranty, I replaced the rotors with brembo and not one problem for 30K+ and counting. They even seem to work better. The truck seemed to stop better with that combo and I really thought I wouldn't see a difference unless going with a big brake kit...don't think they even make them for the runner so this combo is even better!!
Just wanted to add support!
Nice setup by the way. I like how the 275's look. My 265/75's look narrow and the mileage is adding on. I might have to look at those revo's in that size instead of going to power robbing, gas eating, 1" top out spacer needing 285's. Looks great!!
