The only reason the OEM guard would remove paint is if it was installed incorrectly. The bump stops are a must, as is proper installation.

The problem with the OEM ones is the chance that the side clips become loose and need retightening which some people (my mom) don't pay close enough attention to and I prefer a bug guard that I can wash behind easily which is why I like the AVS one.

So far I have 2 options for the screw-on ones, I'd like to stay away from tape as much as possible...WeatherTech or EGR.

Here is the EGR list of hood protectors:

Here is the link for the WeatherTech one:

BTW, EGR makes a Carbon Fiber hood protector...if you go to the first link for the EGR it should be the Carbon Fiber one.

So, if any of you black 3rd gen owners have a hood protector post a pic so I can see what it will look like. Otherwise, just give me some opinions on these things, thanks guys.

Thanks for all the respones guys!

dexter, checked out your site and that things looks pretty sweet...bet it would look pretty awesome on a black rig too. Now thats a screw on with no rubber feet or anything needed right?

lee, yeah the rig got repainted after each body panel got keyed (except the hood, roof and bumpers...got the bumpers repainted out of pocket as well as the hood and hood scoop trim piece, the trim piece is usually not painted because they have to mask it off to not get paint inside the hood but I had them remove it after it was done and it got hit with some paint and clear)

I'm gonna get a hold of gapguy and see if I can't get in on that $10 OEM one he has and see how I like it.

i have 3m on my hood, lights, bumper, fenders, i love it, it hasent aged i had one piece replace when i got hit in the hood by a rock the size of a golf ball, no chip though, and the piece was replaced for free. great stuff if you will pay the price to get a good shop to do it. the shop that did my truck charges between 650 to 800 for a full kit but its worth it. i got a deal thats why i did it but i would never have a car without it again. if anyone in WA is interested i can get you a great deal i know the shop very well.

Yeah man post some pics...I think the hood rattle thing is common, it did that on mine until I adjusted the little feet that it rests on.
