Has anybody figured out how to remedy this high beam indicator light??? A couple of weeks after I disconnected my drl, my indicator light stays on while driving with headlights off and even stays on after I turn the engine off.

I disconnected mine as well to install my HID's because they were strobing with the reduced voltage, And I don't have this problem. Weird. Now it will show up next week and I'll have forgotten about this post and be pissed at something else. It's an '02 BTW.

yup my 02 did this as well..right after i sniped that wire..and your dealer is full of it there is s TSB for this particular mod i just have to find the link but i've seen scanned copies of it floating around the internet.

It is annoying as you're driving around dusk time and it's more apparent...SOMEONE FIND OUT PAHLEASE!!!!

I'm not sure if that wire we snipped is looking for ground i dont want to fry anything either trying to find out

Thanks Foo Fighter. The biggest thing that really bugs me is that the light stays on constantly, even when I'm not driving.

yup...i've pretty much learned to ignore it. someone i was talking to suggested grounding the wire to find out if that will cure it. Worse case scenario you pop the DRL fuse i may have to give it a try

whats the point of disconnecting the DRL?
I thought the DRL was for safety? I always have my head lights on, not matter what the time of day is.

weird, mine's a 01 and i had this high beam flash when i started up the rig and this went on for bout a week and it went away, I didnt think wiring would be different for 02. BTW when you run a switch for DRL does this happen as well ?

when you start to run aftermarket bulbs you'll know why some of us do it. PIAAs or Silverstars are not one of the longest lasting bulbs. I do agree on the safety benefit but it's annoying when you enter a dark parking garage and lights are in other people & children's face, us DRL people can only go to them without a choice. Just one example among others.

they actually had a enough complaints that they release a TSB on the matter all be it up to 2000 but some drive up to military bases and have to turn off their lights at the security check etc or private residential lots bla bla bla

ok i was looking that the TSB on the DRL disabling. Did you all read the next step after clipping the wire? It pertains to the Avalon's but it tells you to ground that wire to the chassis on the Avalon's. This kind of confirms what were were talking about previously. so i think i will try this out...

soooo i connected the lead coming out of the box to ground and guess what?!

the high beam light went off! But it essentially reconnect the DRL so when you start the truck your DRL comes back on again

then i tried to ground the other end of the wire that was sniped off and that resulted in nothing. I'm thinking if the previous model year uses the same box then i wonder if it would hurt to run a say 2001 or 2003 headlight box. So i'm at a lose now...just drive it w/ the annoy light on i guess

having to turn my lights on and flash the brights every time i get in the truck is getting old
