Help- 1988 4Runner Radiator Options

To all,

I have a 1988 4Runner that needs a new radiator. The Dealership wants $550.00 for a new OEM radiator. I tried a couple of after market radiators and while they are cheaper, the top radiator line is not at a 45 degree angle like the OEM radiator. I can't find a hose to match the difference in angle. I do not want to refurbish my exsisting radiator (it has already be done once before). Is this a common problem with 1988 that force me to go to the Stealership? Is there an after market company that has the right angle for the upper hose? Any help would be appriciated. I would like to avoid paying the $550.00 if I could. Right now it isn't looking to good.

Thanks.

Steve

I guess the engine is a v6? the 4 cyl. only replacement is the v6 radiator ( in most cases I have seen ) but the 45° top radiator angle is something I have never seen before. Both the 4 and 6 cyl. radiators from 87 have the same 90° passenger exit.
What size motor is is it? maybe that will help in determining what will fit.

I've had an aftermarket rad in my '88 V6 for the past few months without issue. Do some searching on the net for rads in the US. Unfortunately, I can't recommend any from the US because I got mine in Canada. I recall paying about $230 Canadian for mine. With regard to the 45 degree angle, I don't recall that being a big issue and just cut my upper hose to make it fit.

Troy

Oreilly Auto Parts carries radiators, I've used them in several vehicles without a problem.

not sure about the v-6, but i picked up a lifetime warranty rad for my p/u from autozone for under $100, now there about $170. have used the warranty twice, once after rearending someone-another time i got a piece of a fence through it, and they replaced them both w/o a hassle! worth checkin out.

I second Radiator Barn. I went up to a 3 core for my 85 and I got it for $100 shipped to the house. Shipped quick too. Highly recommended!
