Hella 500 Fog Light Mounting
I have searched on this site and outdoorwire for a location to install my hella 500's.
I have seen a few 4Runners that have drilled holes in the bumper. That doesn't sit very well with me. The location looks good, but i just don't want to drill into it.
Is there any mounting brackets or perhaps something like the Jaos "lamp stay" available?
I don't have the money for the Jaos nor a grille guard.

I too was worried about drilling into my bumper on my '91.
But I think it was a good decision.
It was very easy to do. I just made sure to measure twice x twice, so I would not goof up.
Here's a pic.
If I did not have my ARB bumper now, I would not hesitate to do it again.
You don't get any vibration either with it mounted directly to the bumper like you might with a bar.
I did have to go out and buy a long extension for my socket set as to reach the nut on the bottom of the lamp hardware from underneath.
If you do decide to do it the bumper way, believe me...
I was really worried about frelling my nice shiny SR5 bumper up.
It tuned out great. I also used some small rubber biscuits between the bumper and the metal on the lamp assembly so as to not have any metal rubbing and causing rust.
After I took the lamps off of my bumper to transfer them to the ARB, the holes on the stock bumper had no signs of rust.
I say go for it. You'll save money over getting something else to mount them on.
Unless of course you want to get the Sahara or the TJM T17

I was afraid of drilling into my $300 bumper, so I went out and got a $500 grille guard! LOL. Nah, seriously though, if you want to do it, do it! Don't worry. If not go and get a grille guard like mine and you don't have to drill, there are already holes there! Just do what you want, it is your 4Runner, do with it what you like. Corey did his thing, I did mine, and you do yours. But what ever you do, do measure 8000000 times, like Corey said! Goodluck! :fireman:
