Heavy Fuel/Emissions odor from rear of 4Runner
I've noticed over the last few months that my 4runner has had a hot gasoline emissions type of odor. It doesn't smell like if you just stick your nose in a can of gas it smells like heated gasoline.
Even if I haven't driven it that day, if its hot outside I can smell the gas odors pretty strong from the left rear bumper area of the 4runner.
It gave a error code 2 weeks ago of a emissions leak (don't remember the code).
I've slide up the truck and looked around for anything obvious but haven't spotted anything that looks cracked or disconnected.
Is there any "known suspects" I should give special attention to in search under there?

The first question I would ask is do you know when the last time that plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc. were changed? If they are overdo it could leave to fuel not being burned completely in the cylinder. Also, do you notice any sort of lagging on take off or under heavy load like symptoms of a misfire? If plugs and all check out I would think O2 sensor because of emission code. Hope this helps, my expertise is limited. lol
