Don't know what you have but you could try checking your owner's manual.
On my Tacoma you pull the plug off, squeeze and move the spring out of the way, and pull out the bulb!
I heard somewhere that you shouldn't touch the bulb itself?
Anybody know anything about that?

you can't touch the bulb itself cause of the oil from your fingers that will be left on the bulb. I made that mistake a few years ago and thought nothing of it til it died like 2 days later and i had to replace it again... I can't remember what happened to the bulb but it either cracked or .... not cracked... it probably cracked...
I just followed the instructions in the owners manual btw... it's a neat little book.. I keep it in my room for light reading before i go to sleep... "Welcome to the growing group of value-conscious people who drive Toyotas...." - 1994 Owner's Manual.
