Anyone out there with the ECT switch regularly run in "power mode"? I almost always run in normal mode. I'm guessing all it really does is modify the shift points to higher RPM's, and that mileage is better in normal mode.

Has anyone compared mileage under both modes?

Mileage is much better without ECT on, but there is definitely a "feel" of more power with it on. I ran with it on for one tank last week and got used to it, but it's off now due to the mileage and my 35 mile commute to work in the morning.

In daily driving I would recommend having it off for fuel reasons. On the highway, however, I noticed no difference. It doesn't really matter though if you have it on then anyway because you're just cruising.

I rarely use it, mostly because I forget I even have a "power" mode, and also because of mileage. I've used it a couple times on steep dirt roads just for fun.

Yeah, I'm with you guys. I always run in normal mode had actually forgot I even had an ECT switch. The thing that got me thinking about it was my girlfriend pushing the button out of curiosity, I wouldn't have even remembered it if I hadn't seen the indicator light up on the dash.

Of course, the first thing I thought when it lit up was "great, what's wrong now?" and was relieved to see it was just the power indicator...

I use it quite a bit in the city, depending on what I'm doing...if I'm running behind, etc. hehe. I like that mode better as it revs more freely. My fuel economy doesn't change much as it will still shift early if you let it. It's just that under WOT it doesn't seem so hesitant about revving higher.

Probably the only reason I don't have it in that mode 24/7 is that I just don't like having the green 'ECT Power' light up on the dash all the time. I should figure out a way to rewire it so it's reversed and regular mode = power mode.
