E Locker fixed!!!

Well, it was not what I was expecting, but now my E locker works!! ( YES!!! )

I pulled it all apart only to find it full of rust and grime.... so I cleaned it all up, greased it all up and put it back in... It worked twice then quit....

I pulled the motor a second time only to find one of the magnets in the motor cap had come un-glued. I JB welded the magnet back on, let it set for 7 ish hours and put it back in... this time it worked for about 5 times and quit....

I pulled the motor a third time expecting to see the magnet I glued to have come un-glued again.... but to my suprise it was the other 3 that had come un-glued. So I JB welded the other 3 ( note that the magnets are different polarity, if re-glueing, they must go back from where they came fron ) This time I let them set for 24 hours.... Installed the motor and it worked!!! I was happy!!!

I took the truck off the hoist, backed up and tried it again, this time I could hear the motor working, but the light on the dash would only flash... This was odd... I set it back up on the hoist and it worked normally again.... I took a good look around and found a broken wire at the lock/unlock switch on the diff... repaired it, and not it works 100%....

I am a very happy man!!!!!

Cheers
Bob

After looking at how ine looked when it cam apart I have 2 bits of advice.....

1) use the locker as much as possible... even once a month or every 2 months put the truck in 4low, hit the button and drive forward... keep things moving...

2) if you use your truck in mud, take the motor off, pull it apart, and silicon both sides of the 2 rubber seals and re install them. I have read they are weak, and from looking at mine they looked like crap and let all kinds on water and junk in.....

and Sonny, if your ever goes I will help you fix it

Cheers
Bob

Bob-
My locker just quit working, as well. In the beginning, when your's wasn't working..could you audibly hear the locker motor cycling? I can hear mine, and the light still flashes.

It seems to me that the wiring under there couldn't be done worse. The way the harness is clipped, it seems to always be under stress.

You could hear no sound from mine... if you can still hear yours moving are you sure it is not locking??? after I was all done I could hear mine working, but the light would just continue to flash.... It turned out I also has a broken wire at the lock switch.... the light would stay flashing, but my locker was still locking and unlocking.....
