CV boot issues with BJ spacers

So I had my first chance to check out the flex with BJ spacers, Procomp shocks/steering stabilizer, and torsion bars turned way down--everything worked great, except I blew both inner cv boots--
What can I do?? What boots will hold up better?

You say you were flexing, do you think they blew from too much up travel or too much down travel? Do you have factory bump stops? Do you have any pics of your cv angle? Sorry, all questions and no answers.

I am not sure if it was the down travel or what--I didnt think my cv boot angle was too bad. I think when I purchased the reman axles recently they just came with cheap boots.
I have heard about VW boots working well-anyone have part #'s??

Here is my CV angle-

That looks about like the angle I'm at now too. So those were new boots (cheap) that blew? I'm using Toyota OEM boots. I'll have my first major test at the end of this month in Colorado. I'll definately be unlocking my hubs on the highway.

I see your lower bump stops, but what is the status of your upper bump stops?

Both upper and lower bumpstops are stock..I have a brand new set of OEM boots that I just posted in the FS section because I ended up replacing axles instead--I guess they are not for sale anymore

You might consider spacing your upper bump stop so it limits down travel a little more. As I said my cv angle is about the same as your's is in that pic, but my limit straps are just about tight right there. In other words, my wheel can't droop much more than about an inch from that point.

Here I found a picture of mine that shows the limit strap is almost tight just sitting on level ground and you can kind of see my CV angle too: http://community.webshots.com/photo/...55273828UOQIhX

The whole idea was to get more travel--I just need some better boots I think. I dont think the angle is bad enough to damage a good quality boot.

We took the Crust Toy through Aftershock at the Hammers with those spacers and 12 year old OEM boots. They did just fine. Same Pro Comp shocks and no front sway bar at all.

So did the rubber just rip apart? Well if it happens with the OEM boots you might think about setting different limits. I think down-travel is over-rated anyway, especially with locked diffs.

I've been doing fine with my boots. I ripped one before I put spacers on but the other is holding up and it's very dry rotted. Both are OEM off of an '86.

I suspect some of these boots need to have the shaft ends slid up towards the joint a bit more. If they were assermbled and clamped too far away that would make 'em rip real quick. I can't say this is the cause for sure though.

I think they where just cheap. They felt kinda hard when I put them on. I will repost after putting on the OEM boots I have in my backseat.

Unhappy

Well guys, I have a differential drop and my inner CV boot still tore (one was already tore before the BJ lift, but the good one went out too). And the weired part is : My angles where near perfect! I think the main reason is the CV axle is now too close to the lower a-arm(at least mine is with the diff drop)
