i dunno man I have the OME 891s with 2.5 front spacers and I already have about .8 inchs of more lift in the rear. you go with LC coils and you will have serious rake.. Id either top out the already 2.5 spacers you have or go with tundra/trd and top out with some 891s or LCs

I have driven both on road, 891's and LC coils and for highway driving I prefer the 891's. Also, it's not that the 891's won't flex-they will-the shock will be the limiting factor, just the LC coils are softer and will flex easier.

Ok thanks guys... sounds like i'm gonna try the 891s in the rear with the heavy duty OME shocks and just leave the spacers up front for now.

I'd have to say go with the 891's especially if you're going to be doing any decent towing with your rig. I've got some 890's and they handle the weight in the rear way better than stock springs (I tow and carry alot of weight in the rear pretty often). The Toyota OEM springs in the back of their SUV's tend to be very soft spring rates (more comfortable with the vehicle fairly empty, but not good when heavily loaded or towing) which I suspect would be the same case with the LC coils. The LC coils also have alot of lift when unloaded so you'd need serious rake to ride level when loaded. There are certainly tradeoffs to be made with either choice. My 881's with no spacers up front give me about 1"-1.25" of rake with 890's so with 891's you'll have about an inch more than that and with the LC coils you'll be looking at an additional inch past the 891's.

I have also been debating this for a while, and I still havent really made up my mind. I was hoping with the extra lift of the LC coils, that when loaded up, the truck will sit about level. I hate driving anywhere with the rear end sagging. Plus 97limited's 4runner looks deadly sweet.

Also, is there any height difference between the tokico blue and tokico green shocks? Or just different valving. The SS site is starting to confuse me.

Yeah the Tokico Blue's are dual valved... with the Tundra coils they ride really nice on-road!!

And Thanks for the good words about my truck!! The 'raked' look does get some getting used too!! But I enjoy that extra lift in the rear to help clear my exhaust tips when wheelin'...

The TRD shocks are the blue ones and are dual valved-not really needed unless you are into high speed stuff. The green ones are fine and half the cost of the blue ones.

a little off topic, 97limited, how much shipping and border fees did it cost to get the ss kit across the border?

mtl_4runner, how much stuff can you load into your 4runner befor the rear end starts sagging under the weight? I go camping with a wife and a toddler alot, most of the time I can't see out the back window. I will say it again, I hate saggy rear ends.

I had 770lbs (11 bags, 70lbs each) of concrete mix in the rear cargo area and my 4runner looked pretty darn close to level. I could definately tell there was some weight back there when driving around, but it handled it just fine. You'd really have to put ALOT of weight back there to get it to visibly sag with the OMEs (unlike the stock springs which start sagging with just 4 passengers in the truck). Also keep in mind I have 881's up front with no spacers at all so I have a rake of 1-1.25". I might be putting some spacers up front to take a bit of the rake out, but that is still TBD.

Well it was about 90$ to ship the box to Point Roberts letter carrier, then I picked it up and Customs just charged me The Taxes (GST/PST)... On the total cost of the Lift in CDN dollars!!

A little update:

Thanks again for all the help guys. I have the tokico blue struts now, some OME N86 in the mail, and working on a deal for some TRD Tundra front coils. All thats left is needing the 891s, extended studs and the 3/8" bamachem top spacers. I'm just bummed at the cost of the little things

I got the front struts for $50, rear shocks for $70, hoping to get the tundra coils for about $70... and then going to pay $20 for some longer bolts, and another $40 for some little spacers... I feel like I could just buy a sheet of hard plastic and make my own spacers. Doesnt seem like they would need to be precision engineered and cut. just so long as its 3/8 inch with the holes in the right spots. No offense to Bamachem for making them, but I find it hard to bring myself to pay $40 for a couple peices of plastic when I paid $50 for a set of dual valved front struts.
