Check engine light on How to pull the code?
My check engine light came on today. Is there a way to pull the engine code? I know that for domestic vehicles you short two of the pins on the diagnostic port and the check engine light will flash out the trouble codes. Is there a similar procedure for the 4Runner?
Thanks.
EDIT: BTW, I googled this http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/codes/
Does this look correct?
Thanks.

You need to get, rent, borrow, etc an OBD II code reader. There is no way to access codes like you used to anymore. The local Autozone will often read them for free if you're lucky. Search OBD on here and you'll find tons of info on how to do it and what readers to buy.
