ok, would mine have two o2 sensors or just one? And is there any way to figure out which one is bad other than buying a new one and seeing if its a goner?

Ok, well o2 sensor, are you talking pre-cat or after the cat?

I got a used one off ebay, of course just seeing that it was a 4 wire one, and it got here, and wasnt quite the one for the truck. It did have the correct mounting, but I had to cut off the plugs and swap the connectors. It didnt seem to solve the problem unfortunately but I just pulled the EFI fuse, so i dont know if it cleared it or not. I disconnected the battery and will see if that works.

Despite what that Ebay ad says, the front (pre-cat) and rear (post-cat) are NOT the same. Your code, 1135, is specific to the front sensor which Toyota refers to as an A/F (air/fuel) A.K.A. a wide-band. The best price in the US is from http://www.urdusa.com/product_info.p...s_id=430006000

They run about $150 from any other source that I've seen, including Ebay.

Sweet, thanks, thats a bit more reasonable. The sensor from them comes with the flange needed right? Not sure if that is just a generic picture or the one of the 4runner.

And I read on this forum that they were different from front to back, I guess i didnt look at that auction real well.

I am going to try to heat it up before I put it back in (I read somewhere that if you get the tip red hot it'll sometimes burn the stuff off and make it work) and since I have a non working one... why not give it a try before spending 75 bucks.

And thanks for the clarification that my code is for the front sensor... when i saw air/fuel, I figured technically it could be maf also since that'll somewhat control it.

It looks like the best price around, but for the the pre-cat sensor (Denso Part #: 234-9002) you have to add $92 dollars to the large inviting $79 dollars that's shown at the top of the website. Scroll down to the bottom where all the checkboxes are shown, and you'll see Part 234-9002 shown there with a +$92 next to it, so the total from URD for that sensor would be $171.

Sparkplugs.com sells that Denso part for $154, or the NGK equivalent for $380 if you're feeling rich.

and Aero, that code is specifically for the heater circuit of your front sensor. You can check the resistance of the sensor's heater at room temperature and full operating temperature to see if the problem actually lies with the sensor (most likely), or your wiring or ECM. See test procedure here.

Yep... they're expensive, but they do last 75000 - 100000 miles, usually.

X2

Don't bother shopping because you won't beat their price for OEM O2& A/F sensors.
Yes, the A/F sensor costs more than a simple O2 sensor, but that's life.

I haven't bought one from sparkplugs.com so I can't comment on them.
If they have the genuine article for that price, then yes, they would beat URD.

Well, I tried to test the ohms across the wires that it said in that link, and got nothing at all. Tried flipping the wires, and combinations of all of the wires and still got nothing. Tried it on another 02 sensor I had lying around, and it did get a reading, just to make sure the gauge was working.

So I guess I'll have to be buying a new one. Sucks, but hopefully I wont have to worry about it for a long while. Thanks for all the help.

That's typical of when one has failed.....yes, you need a new one.
