Brother inlaws 97 tacoma...cheap lift?

My brother inlaw has a 97 4 banger 5 speed, regular cab tacoma. He goes fishing out on the beach a lot, and is looking to fit a little bigger tire..or even just a nice 31. I have a set of 2 inch steel blocks right here..could he just throw some BJ spacers on the frotn and get new shocks? That would give him 2 inches of lift, and a little more room for the 31s. Comments?

I know blocks arent the BEST, but they will work.

31's are a stock option on the taco's. i have 31x10.5x15. search and you shall find the best for you. if you go bigger than the 31's you might lose power/mpg because of it. i bet you could fit some pizza cutter 32's on there without any troubles.

cheap ways are either 3" body lift, or spacers and blocks. either way you can clear. i did a 3" body and could clear 33x12.50x15's on a 10" rim.

What about something like this?
http://www.suspensionconnection.com/...on/529043.html

he really just drives it on the road to work and back..than on the beach to fish. i do however have plans to bring him offroad with me in my 86. He may run some narrow 32s with the 3 inch lift.

If you already have the rear blocks, and are going that way, check out RevTek's website and just buy spacers for the front
If he isnt going to offraod much he doesnt need to worry about flex, he can even get away without the longer shocks...

I have installed that lift on a 2000 Tacoma. It was pretty easy.

I have the 2 inch blocks....I want to see if he wants a 2 or 3 inch lift. If he wants a 3 inch lift...Could I just buy 3 inch spacers for the front and than for the rear use the 2 inch block and a one inch shackle?

you could.
Most 3" lifts though only come with 2" or 2.5" rear lifts....so just use your blocks and buy some revtek spacers for the front.

OK...So I talked to him tonight. He wants to run 3 icnhes of lift. Should we do 2 inch blocks/1inch shackle on the rear and spacers upfront? How will that ride?
OR should I look for spacers upfront and a rear AAL?

Im going to buy this for him as a gift...and im a broke ass kid, with a rig oof my own. I want to get him lifted, on the cheap..but properly.

Theres no such thing.

Save your money or do it right! A cheap lift improves nothing except looks.
See #6.0 http://www.sonoransteel.com/store_co..._liftkits.html Thats considered "cheap" but at least it serves a functional purpose.

A one inch longer shackle will only yield 1/2" of lift. You will need a 2" longer shackle to get 1" of lift.
