Brake pads and rotor question
so is it still the consensus of the board that Hawk pads with brembo rotors work very well in tacomas? i have a 2002 v6 4x4.... also where to get them the cheapest online? thanks fellas

Auto zone pads...I think they use Duralast, are lifetime warranty. Yes they wear out a little faster, and are a little dustier..but you only ever have to buy one set....ever.
You buy it, install them and wear them out, buy the next set, install them, return the wore out ones, get your money back. Not a core. ALL of your money...so on and so on and so on forever.
As easy as front pads are on Toyota trucks, the labor to change them is NOTHINg to me when compared to price savings. I got way more free time than free money.

FWIW, using cheap autozone pads isnt not a good idea when your truck is riding on 10" or so wide strips of rubber and you need to stop.
If there is one thing I have learned is always buy quality brakes and rotors and tires. Thats your lifeline, cheap stuff fails your screwed.

FWIW, using cheap autozone pads isnt not a good idea when your truck is riding on 10" or so wide strips of rubber and you need to stop.
If there is one thing I have learned is always buy quality brakes and rotors and tires. Thats your lifeline, cheap stuff fails your screwed.

i've never had any problem with performance of my brake pads, only longevity issues. Which as stated earlier, I can deal with more than the financial of buying the exspensive stuff.

I've done brakes twice in 60,000 miles, but once was because I screwed them up, but when i pulled those pads off, they were nowhere near worn out, so I dont have a full time length span on my truck, I got around 60-65K out of the same pads on my Mx6, and Id rove that thing like I stole it ALL the time.

AutoZone carries Performance Friction pads, lifetime warranty also. These pads are the same as Toyota TRD, just different branding. Excellent stopping power and virtually no dust.

hmm really?? i will check into those too. i like the idea of only paying for one set of brake pads the life of my truck lol..

Pretty easy on rotors. I've only ever had to replace 1 rotor on my 3 cars I have run these pads on, and it was a fluke. I sheared a caliper pin, and locked the brake and drug the rotor down to nothing. lol.
I have had them turned a couple of times, but probably also my fault warping them!

btw you still liking those 265/75's??? i think i may stick with the 265/70's bc i dont want to get rid of my mud flaps haha.. sounds pathetic i know but it keeps the rocks from getting slung up on my paint
