auto climate on 03 4Runner

Hope someone can help since the dealer has no clue....yet. Bought a 03 Sport Ed 4Runner

1. Auto climate control don't seem to work properly. When turning temp to heat 76 or above only the floor vents blow. I could swear that when I initially bought the rig the vents rotated (i.e. floor then floor/face then face, etc) now the only thing that fluctuates is the blower. Vent selectors don't change. Seems kind of strange that only floor vents blow...Like I just wan't my feet warm.
Anybody else experience this?

2. Anybody with issues with squeaky noise on startup in the AM.

Thanks in advance

welcome aboard first of all

1: when you have it setup for auto and the heat is way up, it'll automatically go to your feet until it's warm. when the cabin is warm enough it'll adjust the fan speed down and then will the setting change to foot/face... same goes for the a/c. if you have the auto and the temp is real low, it'll automatically be set to face until the temp is leveled and then will the setting change to face/foot.

2: if you have v6, there is a recall on the tensioner which might be the issue. I personally don't have the v6 so I dunno much about it. On my v8, I don't have any problems or noises in the morning. Hope ya find out what it is soon

Thanks Lance.

The thing is the Fan speed does adjust itself but not the vent selector. I'll try leaving on for good while and see if anyhting changes.

As far as the recall on the tensioner where did you find this out. I'm surprised the dealer didn't tell me about that. They just changed the belt and it's happening again after 2 weeks.

Is there a site that has all the recall notices? I'd love to bring that to the dealer.

Thanks again
Eric

I have a 2003 V6, no sweak here. How long did you have the truck when this noise started? I do have a different noise when I start it and the engine is cold. Its a clicking sound that is somewhat loud until the engine warms up. Like the pistons going up and down. Don't understand why it is loud only when its cold. My previous car was a V6 SUV but never did this. Anyone else have this problem?

Well it started about a month after I got it. Then the dealer replaced the belt. After 2 weeks it started again. I just broke 1500 miles so this shouldn't be happening.

As far as your clicking try adding or changing the oil. On my old SUV that worked. Just a thought.

Its a brand new vehicle. Only a few weeks old. I would think the oil would be ok. I think this V6 engine is a new design. I was a little hesitate on getting a first year model since they usually have those little bugs that have to be ironed out. But went ahead and got it. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that sound when the engine is cold.
