Unhappy Accident Estimates/Opinions?

Today I was reversing, didn't see a fire hydrant, and crushed the rear bottom corner of my truck. It pushed in the metal but didn't touch the taillight or tailgate.

I'm taking the truck in for an estimate tomorrow, but I was wondering if you guys had any opinions, suggestions, or an idea of how much the repair might cost? Thanks. Below are some pictures.

I fix things like that everyday with a mobile paint & repair van. I would charge $150 for that repair, but your probably looking at $400-600 at a body shop. That sucks you did that, I think you have the best looking 2WD on this site.

Just be very glad you didn't break the sheer bolts on the fire hydrant. I have seen them break under less of a hit than that!! That would make it much more expensive!

sorry this happened.
I would guess it cost 1200 for a replacement providing nothing other than rear bumper.
There are many Toyota Sienna on the road with dent on real bumper for some reason I don't understand. Sometimes, it comes with one each side.

You are not alone. Be happy.

Thanks for the support. I'm hoping I won't have to replace the roll pan. Instead I was hoping that they could push it out, bondo it, prime, and paint it. But I don't know much about body work.

$300 on the cheap and as much as $1000 with a high-end body shop. average will be about $400-$500.

i have almost the exact same dent just a little smaller on my truck but its hidden behing my rear bumper, the bumper pushed in and dented the body then when i rolled forward the bumper came back off the body about a inch so you cant really see it unless you look at it but a boy shop in raleigh quoted me 800 bucks and that includes replacing my rear bumper which you would not have to do

is that piece part of the roll pan? if it is, i think rollpans from those mini trucker magazine ads aren't too expensive

Reversing?? That's funny. That sucks but since you're doing work in that area why don't you lose the GTS lettering on your light covers so it goes with the clean look of the rest of your truck?

I use a roll pan - no bumper.

The only thing I've thought of is to paint over the GTS.

I thought about running without a rear bumper on mine, but what if someone rearends you? There's lots of inattentive careless driver's around.

Instead of just getting damage to the bumper, you'll get expensive damage to the tailgate/bed/frame area. Then again....if a clueless cellphone yackin' soccer mom runs into you with her 4-ton lifted Excursion, damage to the back of your truck will be the least of your concerns.lol!

The part that's damaged below the tailight is not part of the rollpan. It's actually part of the 1/4 panel. I had dents under the tailights on both sides of mine. Not as bad as yours, but now it looks like new after I had them fixed at the local body shop.

It cost me around $500 at a local body shop to do the whole bed (from the cab to the tailgate) with original color paint. They fixed all the dents and a few creases left by my uncle's handtruck when he owned it.

how about replacing it with an aftermarket bumper? tube bumpers are never a bad choice but some people don't like them i guess.

Mikedog is correct. That dented piece is part of the quarter panel. A few years ago this one idiot side swiped my truck just on the bed though. The body shop suggested they replace the whole quarter panel.

I know the part that is smashed is part of the quarter pnale because they gave the dented one back to me and it it had the mounting for the tail light.

It costed the idiot's insurance company somewhere around $800. That's including the paint, chrome wheel well trim, mud flap and factory stickers. The work was done at a Toyota dealer.
