Pulled into my girls apt. Sat. night and the only visitor spot open was next to the dumpster. The spot was full of furniture and garbage so I used my 4runner as a bull dozer and pushed it all onto the sidewalk. There was a cool metal desk in the mix which had tubing for legs. Needless to say it fit right in the slot on the bumper and now I need a new condenser.

Just thought I'd give you guys a little background story.

I looked at it briefly and it seems like I might be able to get the condenser out of the front if I pull the grill. I don't feel like pulling the radiator. Am I smokin crack or is this feasible?

I guess nobody has replaced a condenser on this forum?

I don't know if you will be able to get it out thru the opening in the grille. I don't think there's enough room in there to get it past the metal crossmember between the framerails and still have enough room to weasel it out. I could be wrong, but good luck!

So you did lose all the refrigerant?

I just changed the condensor and dryer on my '97 T100. I did have to remove the grille. The job was not that bad even though I had to remove the ARB bumper.

Since you sprung a leak, I strongly recommend you replace the dryer with the condensor. Also, according to the FSM and my experience, you need to evacuate the system before you recharge it. Also, also, a new condensor comes with a can of refigeration oil. You need to add additional oil when replacing the condensor since the old one will have some of the oil in it when you remove it.

I appreciate the responses. I'm picking one up at the junk yard tomorrow. I'll definately pick up some oil and I'll probably give an a/c shop a call to make sure I'm not missing anything. I just don't feel like pulling my radiator in my apt. parking lot. Hopefully I can get it out through the front or bottom. Hell, I think I'd rather take the bumper off rather than deal with radiator fluid right now.
