98 runner stalling

It runs better now with the air on. But with the air off i am thinking my idle is not right since it won't hold at a steady rpm, it just fluctuates from 600 to 700 rpm.
I did a search and found one guy with a tps or throttle position sensor that went bad at 27000miles.
I have 85,000- should i replace this gadget or do a full tune-up with wires and plugs?
What are the best plugs for the 3.4runners?

You an just check the TPS with a simple multimeter.
You should see 200-800 ohms with the throttle closed.
You should see greater than 3.3k (I believe) fully open.
Then vary the throttle by hand and ensure that the resistance varies smoothly throughout the range.
If it does then there is no sense in changing it.
I would replace the plugs with OEM ones from the dealer (dual electrode Densos).
Wires don't bother, the stock ones are very good.
See how that does and post back.

It is the black part directly opposite the throttle cable on the left side of the pic.

my 01 taco also has been stalling lately. i notice that it happens when im heavy on the gas and just let off all of a sudden. could this have something to do with the MAF or over oiling the K&n filter i have? thanks

So many factors with stalling. Who the heck knows really unless you got a dealer computer diagnosis gig.
I changed my fuel filter again (twice in one year), cleaned iac valve and throttle body, cleaned maf with computer parts cleaner, installed techron fuel system cleaner.
My amsoil filter is only 6months old and haven't re oiled it. I may try new oem dealer spark plugs next to make sure. Maybe a tps sensor and o2 sensors also.
It hasn't stalled since ive kept my fuel above 1/4 tank. I think i'll just make this a habit.
I wish i knew someone with a computer gig to diagnose. :cry:
For now i'll just be a parts replacer i guess.
