Question 96' 2.4L Fuel Pressure Regulator

Is there anything I need to know when changing this out like repriming after or any unsuspecting problems associated with it? will gas spray all over when I disconnect it ? I can smell fumes kinda heavy out of the vaccuum hose attached to it, hard warm starts, lots of black soot at the tailpipe...all the signs it may need changing...thanks!

just take it off, you will get some gas sprayed but nothing major, oh and buy some extra fuel injector o rings in case the one on there breaks. Happened to me when i was diagnosing a problem i had with my truck. No need to prime either once you put it back together and turn key it should fire right up after a few cranks or on the first crank like mine did.

Can you tell me which o-ring you mean, the one around the middle of the Regulator?

Here's the FSM components and removal information. On the components page, it shows the O-ring. On the removal page, it says to re-install with a new "gasket". Since I saw no gasket on the components page, I assumed it meant o-ring. Here's the information, hopefully I didn't confuse you.
