4500K Catz HID--should I do it?
Hey what do you guys think? I want the brightest lights possible for use in rain/snow/back country. I was going to upgrade my 2000 4Runner with a heavy wiring harness and put Phillips Vision+ in(or 100/120) but I did a search and everybody raves about HIDS. The Catz also has a highbeam so if they are good...... So I have a couple questions for all who have done the conversion:
1) What is the best brand?
2) I offroad often--getting up to camp spots--sometimes 25 miles of gravel roads at high speed--will this kill the lights?
3) What is the best price?--Suvlights.com has them for $590
4) Are there any reasons I shouldn't get HID's?
Thanks for all the input....I hope you guys convince me to do it.

1) IMHO, Catz are the best brand that I know of.
2) I've done lots of offroading at high speeds and my HIDs are still going strong.
3) Check out Mike at xtremeoffroad.com he always treats us right.
4) Price, but how can you put a price on safety.

So if I do it the cheap way it looks like Philips Vision Plus with a heavy duty harness is the way to go--anybody know where to buy them in the US? The advantage of the doing the cheap would be a TJM-15 but I use my lights a ton more than the bumper what to do.... The HID's sure look better than the Phillips in the link above.....

You can't buy the Philips Vision Plus in the US over the counter since they are marketed for the Europeon market.
You can buy them on-line at the following:
www.powerbulbs.com
www.autolamps-online.com

You probably saw the Philips Premiums at Walmart. They have 30% better light output over stock and are comparable to Sylvania Silverstars. They are available in H1,H4,9004,9005,9006. Also could be the ALLWEATHER/
WEATHERVISION. They are available in H1,H3,H4,H7,9004,9005,9006. If anyone finds the Philips Vision Plus in the US at a retail outlet that would be a first.
