ok, so i've had it up some steep hills, and there is more power, but not as much as I had anticipated from hearing other peoples reactions. i'm going to put a full tank of fuel in and see what sort of mileage difference it makes, but unless it's alot, i very possibly will be putting back the 4.10s

Did you have to slip first gear to get it rolling before? Were you able to use 5th gear before? I couldn't with 4cyl and 4.10's and 33's
now with 4.88's I can start without slipping the clutch and 5th gear is a staple in my driving funcition.

DR: nope, never had to slip the clutch before. well maybe a tad if i was starting on a very steep hill. I used 5th all the time on the freeway before.

If you wanted more lower end grunt, then you should have gone with 5.29s. What you have done is stay close to stock gearing with your tire size increase/regear. That is why you don't notice a huge difference in performance. If you had gone with 5.29s, you would experience somewhat higher RPMs at highway speeds. The stock gearing is a compromise for all types of driving situations. Gearing specifically toward one end of your RPM band will have a negative effect on the other end.

I am going to be putting in my gears this weekend. I am not sure what gears I have in the truck right now. I currently have 33x12.5's and I can still use 5th gear. I have no door jam stickers or anything like that so I have no way of telling untill i pull the gears. Ill let you guys know how it turns out.

if you mean ring and pinion,yes,,but if you have a 4wd,then you have to regear both front and rear diffs,,,and the install kits are nice since i was told that one of the pinion bearings is a booger to get off without destroying it,,,is that what you were looking for?? later

Can't tell from that pic if they're Richmond, and then there is no way to tell if they are the bad ones unless you try the bolts in hand.

Went through a full tank of fuel and I got an extra 20-30 kilometers. Pretty disappointing. I'm pretty sure i'll be switching back and re-selling these 4.88s
