FWIW, here are three pics to help you compare tire sizes and the look they give. The first is stock 265/70's with a 2.5" Daystar spacer lift. Second pic is 265/75's with Daystar 2.5" front and LC coils in the rear. The final pic is 285/75's with 2.5" Daystar spacers front and LC rear coils. Performance and looks wise, the 285's win hands down. IF you stick with an all terrain, upper a arm clearance will be fine with stock 16x7 wheels and rubbing will be very minimal.

I ran the stock wheel with 285/75/16 for a year with barley any rub, I loved them, they were just not big enough, I have 315/75/16 now, and those are just right for what I do. you should get the lift and do the 285's trust me you will be very happy, I have some pics of mine with the 285's and a small rock pile if you like.

I have 275/70/16 and it made my speedo more accurate. But all tire makers have different true o.d.'s and when you get into inch sizes they can be really innacurate. So tire A in 1 size may not rub when tire B in the same size will.

I have 265/75/16 bfg ats and they dont rub and are 31.7 inches tall

Do you guys think the manufacturer's OD measurements are accurate? For example BFG's 255/85/16 says: 33.3, and Interco's says: 32.7. I've read that Interco runs bigger, while BFG is true, so is that 32.7 closer to the 33.3? or do you guys think they are true and the BFG really IS taller?

Are you looking at the Trxus M/T? Typically, a 255 is taller and narrower than a 285. But, 32.7" does seem small diameter wise for a 255. The only way to know for sure is to measure one in person, or contact the company for more information. It might be a misprint.

My 285 Wild Spirit TXR II's run 32.8" tall and 11.3" wide. The 255 TXR II's run 33.2" tall and 10" wide. After actually measuring my 285's, they run exactly the same size as what they publish on the web. I haven't measured a 255, but have seen one in person and they are taller than my 285.

There might be that much difference in 255's between Interco and BFG, but I would call/email Interco to confirm, just for piece of mind. FWIW, after doing a ton of research on 285's, I learned that the Trxus's do run a little smaller than most other tire companies in the same size tire.

That's good to hear. I'm thinking of getting the trxus 255, but in a sense want the shortest/widest 255/85 I can find. I'll email interco to dbl check, but everywhere I've seen shows that tire at 32.7x 10.1. Don't mean to hijack, but for other members, this is good info to look at when trying to squeeze the biggest tire you can. Most manufacturers do run different in actual size. Just like the wheels I bought, Pro comp listed them at 30lbs each, and the UPS tracking # states 23lbs each. Emptypockets, good to see you do your research as well.

Thanks, I didn't even know they sold TXR II's in a 255/85 as well. Where do you think I can find info on them? I've googled "255/85" many times and had thought I had seen all the tires available in that size. So 6 mos huh? That means I only have 5 more mos to go! Just in time for wheeling season lol.

Well, I actually started looking for new meats well before my old tires were shot.

Do some searching on the site and see what area dealers have them. You shouldn't have any problem finding them in Denver. BTW, mine were $600 out the door, mounted and balanced. Good luck!

Although I have to go back and have them rebalance the tires. If I were to do it again I would rather buy from Americas Tire than 4wheelparts for sure.

But i got a good deal from 4wheelparts via the offroading expo. At first I went with 4wheelparts thinking they should be experienced with putting on bigger and heavier tires. But what I found is that they are sort of jack of all trades not experts at anything in particular. They definitely dont have the haweka adapter. Their workmanship is sort of sloppy but that really depends on each specific tech. I've always been happy going to Americas Tire with my BMW but I thought I d try a different place this time. Of course not all the Americas Tire shop have the adapter either but at least some of the shops have heard of it. Oh well.....

well, last time i checked, a 285/75/16 is "labeled" as being a 33x11.5x16 tire, even though on a tire size calculator it says 11.2 inches. but in reality, it is almost impossible to find a tire that is "exactly" the size that is claimed by the manufacturer.

but 285/75 16 is a 33 that is a bit tougher to make fit. 32x11.5 is a perfect size tire for the wheelin we do.
