3.0 & 3.4 compatability
From what I recall, someone on here once said to the effect of that the 3.4 is just a bored and stroked 3.0 with Dual Overhead cams. Obviously it isn't that simple, but how compatable are parts for these engines? For example, would headers or the exhaust manifold from a 3.4 fit on the 3.0 ? Or are the heads bolt patterns different? We know that a lot the components (EG transfer case) on trucks that came with the 3.4 swap are on opposite sides to that of trucks with 3.0's. But how interchangeable are these engines? I mean the reason I am asking is becuase the swaps of the 3.4 in place of the 3.0 seem like such a drop in affair that I can't help but wonder. Another question I have, and I'm sure no one would do this, but could you bolt on a 3.4 supercharger onto a 3.0? Would a retrofit of this type work or is it not possible by design?

Intake is different and on opposite side
3.4 is taller
Shortblock is similar
If you are suggesting S/C for the 3.0 you haven't seached or read enough on the subject.

I have the same questions re: 3.0 to 4.0. Anyone discovered if the 4.0 would be a bolt-in replacement for a 3.0?

That the Lexus V8? Very nice swap, I would really consider that but they aren't so easy to come by. Anyone in the US offerring conversion parts or is it still order them from Down Under?

My consulting business always takes precidence over rig stuff. I've been busier than ever since late February. The rig has taken a back seat - factor in 2 vacations, a week log inlaw visit, activities with my kids... well you get the picture.
No one has done an auto trans 1UZ swap yet - I'm one of the first attempting it. There are a couple of others working on it, but no one is done yet. There are a few manual trans 1UZ swaps in AUS/NZ, but those cost more due to custom bellhousings and clutch components (only available from AUS/NZ!). I'm trying to do it cheaper with readily available parts.
There aren't any swaps that do themselves, there is some degree of difficulty in all of them. I could have taken the easy route and swap a Chevy 4.3 , but I wanted to keep it all Toyota. Someone once said 2 hours of preparation saves 10 hours of problems. Not sure if there is any truth to that, but I'm taking my time because I can.

the 3.0 and 3.4 are both in the same family -- the VZ family. kind of like the 3R, 8R, 18R, 20R, and 22R are all in the "R" family. generally in toyota speak, this means the blocks are similar, usually based on one another. each number before the engine family name is the revision, e.g. 22R is the 22nd revision of the R engine. if i'm not mistaken, the original R engines were from the 50s or early 60s, which would make them about as old of an engine family as the small block chevy when production was stopped in '95.
